SEO For Artist Websites

Search Engine Optimisation For Artists, Makers & Photographers

Creating a great looking website on its own can be as effective as opening a new store on a quiet cul-de-sac. It doesn’t matter how good it looks and how well it functions – if visitors don’t find it you are probably wasting your time. Change that in my SEO for artist websites online course.

This 3 week course will show you how to use SEO (search engine optimisation) to get your website found and increase the number of visitors that find you through Google and other search engines – dramatically!

SEO for artist websites

My course promise

“In this 3 week online course you will go from a place of not knowing how to get people to find your website to knowing exactly how to create the maximum number of doors into your website and how to make each of those doors attract your intended audience in difference ways so that far more of them come in.

I will teach you principles of good SEO design. I will teach you how to research keywords so that you better understand how your customers are searching for you. I will introduce you to tools that help you make better decisions on which words and phrases will work well for you and which won’t. I will introduce you to tools that will allow you to spy on your competitors and learn from things that they are already doing well.

Throughout this SEO for artist websites course I will show you how to choose the best keywords and phrases and show you how to optimise your website pages using them whilst being realistic about which ones you can get to the top of search engines like Google with and which ones will be beyond your reach as a small business at your current level.”

Before I tell you more about this essential course, let me tell you who this is really for …

artist website design

As an artist, maker or photographer you have already created a website. Your website looks great and seems to function well but you are just not getting visitors in sufficient volumes to generate the levels of sales that you need. You might have heard of SEO but don’t really understand it or how you can apply it effectively in your website.

There is a need to be transported to a place where you attract more visitors to your website and attract the right kind of people that are likely to purchase your work so that you experience much better sales volumes in the short term and can begin to cultivate long term relationships with those customers.

This online SEO for artist websites course is for you if …

You are thinking about setting up a new website

You have used other websites before. You know how they should look on the outside and how they should function but what is really going on underneath? What is it that you don’t see that is just as important? How do they get into search engines like Google? What makes some websites attract more visitors than others? What changes can you make to dramatically change the visibility of your website? Knowing the answers to these and many more questions that will be answered on this course will help you to design your website better from the start and give you much better results.

Already have a website but want it to work harder for you

There are two main elements to having a great website – having something that looks great and is highly functional and having something that is able to attract lots of ideal customers to it through search engines. If your website is functional and looks great but you are disappointed by sales volumes the chances are that like so many others you have neglected SEO. You have either not understood the importance of search engine optimisation to get found by far more people or if you have you haven’t understood how to make changes to your website to achieve that.

Getting your website pages into page 1 of Google and other search engines doesn’t mean starting again. On this course I will show you what is involved so that you can decide which parts of your website you can simply tweak to make more search engine friendly and which parts might benefit by a redesign.

You want to feel empowered talking to a website designer

Website designers can be expensive and doing SEO well can be very time consuming. As a customer you might not want to pay huge sums of money to a website designer for work done behind the scenes that you cannot necessarily see immediately. It can feel intangible unless you know what you are looking at. From the web designers position they might  not be a specialist in your industry sector and they might be reluctant to quote you for their best SEO efforts feeling they will price themselves out of the market for your business compared to a designer who has more focus on the look of the website than what is happening underneath or one that specialises in your sector.

In this course I will empower you so that you understand what SEO is and can talk to a website designer knowing more about your industry than they might and supplying more detailed directives that will save the designer time and therefore you money. I will teach you how to measure things more effectively so that you can set clearer goals.

If you see yourself here then you are in the right place. In this online website design course I am going to give you the tools, inspiration, knowledge, confidence and support needed to create a website that really helps you to grow a successful online art, craft or photography business that grows year on year.

By the end of this online course you will know …

“This is something that takes a lot of understanding, is time consuming and is frustrating. I do understand why people don’t do it. It’s a vitle thing and the way you explain it makes logic of it.

It is a very important aspect once your website has been created. Refining it in these ways can make a big difference.”

Burning questions people ask before enrolling

Will this course teach me how to build a website?

No this course will not teach you how to build a website. For that you need my other course How To Create A Website For Your Art, Craft or Photography Business. This course isn’t particularly interested in the visual appeal or functionality of your website, it is more concerned with the things you don’t see that search engines do that once set correctly will bring far more visitors to your website.

Do I need to use the tools and software you recommend?

This course teachers basic principles to SEO that you can follow regardless of the tools you use for your own website development although if using the same website development tools (WordPress and Yoast SEO plug in) you will be at an advantage. Other tools I suggest to analyse your website, competitors websites and research keywords can be used with any website. There are also other tools out there other than the ones suggested which will help you to obtain similar information.

Is the course relevant if I already have a website designer?

Absolutely! Several past students have been in this position and although they have not wanted to create their website themselves they have said that taking the course has empowered them to know what is required and to know what to ask their website designer to do for them rather than leaving it to their designer who may not have much experience of the art, craft and photography business. Once designed the course has then given them great confidence to take over the maintenance of the website themselves given them more flexibility and greater cost savings in the long term. SEO can also be very time consuming. If you can do a lot of your SEO research yourself and simply direct your website designer you will be able to make large savings in website designer fees.

How much time is needed for the course?

The amount of time needed to spend on the course very much depends on you and how well you want to do it. It is also dependent on where you are already? Do you already have a website or are starting from scratch? Do you have 10 products or 100s? Are you just looking at direct product sales or do you run workshops, commissions, trade accounts and more?

You should be able to learn the principles of SEO in 3 weeks by spending 5-7 hours per week on the course. This does not, however, mean that you will have a fully search optimised website in that time – far from it. Many people new to SEO will be thinking about building websites using as few pages as possible mixing lots of different messages, products, services etc in those pages. As you will learn SEO demands one main message, product, topic, service etc per page. That’s how you optimise pages – based around a single subject matter for that page. Your website should have 1 page per product plus range pages, category pages, services, workshops, commission and many more. Once you know how many pages you need you should allow 2-3 hours per page to optimise it once you really know what you are doing which means many might plan to optimise their websites over 6 or even 12 months realistically once they have completed this course doing a little at a time each week but with a plan and consistency.

I am worried I will not be able to cope with the technology?

I consider one of my strengths to be simplifying technology for customers. I have been around technology all my life but it still frustrates me when I see things that are far more complicated than they need to be so my plan in all my courses is to keep things as simple and to the point as possible. That said, SEO is probably the most complex aspect of developing a strong online presence that you are going to come across. It is going to get hard and it is going to be time consuming.

My best advice would be to break it down into small achievable chunks. Plan your time carefully and try to work without interrupting making clear notes of what you are doing throughout that you can refer back to. If you find it really hard focus on the elements where you can learn from your competition and repeat that. If it comes easier to you do your own research too and try to learn from your competition then improve on that.

Can I have access to the entire course right away?

I deliberately release the content of my courses slowly. This course, however, is short and it only takes 2 weeks to deliver the material with a 3rd week for implementation support so you won’t need to wait long for all the material. Gradual release isn’t to make things difficult for you this is actually a technique to avoid overwhelm, to help you stay focused and on track and to help you pace yourself. It also helps keep people together as they move forward and support each other in my ‘scheduled’ version of the course.

Many online courses have a reputation for people not completing them and this technique is designed to minimise the chance of that. Some people might be able to complete it in less than 3 weeks and some may take longer but 3 weeks is considered a reasonable time for everyone to fit it into their busy lives but still be able to give it the attention it requires.

But don’t worry if you go over. Some of you will but you will have lifetime access to the material so you will still be able to finish it in your own time.

Will there be any further costs during the course?

The course teaches you to do your SEO yourself. During the course I recommend a number of 3rd party tools that will help with this. Most are free and some also offer paid versions. It is very easy to complete the course and obtain great results using the free versions of all tools suggested, however, sometimes you might find time savings and more accurate information is available by upgrading to some of the paid versions even if for only a month or two to obtain material during your research stages. If you feel you wish to do that it should all be very affordable with $10 here, $10 there type subscriptions. Remember to cancel any monthly subscriptions you do not need on an ongoing basis though and restart them later if you come back to review everything again later rather than pay when you are not using them.

What if it doesn't work?

That is a negative self limiting thought process that you need to reframe! Every time you hear yourself say that whether it is during this course or any other aspect of your online business you need to replace that thought with ‘But what if it DOES WORK?‘.

SEO can at first seem a very complicated beast, almost a black art to some. Once broken down though it is very logical and makes perfect sense. Stick with it and follow things step by step and you will see results but remember – so much relies on getting your research right in the first place. Do your research well and optimise for keywords and phrases that are both popular with your audience and not over used by your competition and you will be fine. Look for that ‘sweet spot’ using the tools I recommend then break your website down logically so that you can optimise different pages to catch those visitors and you will be fine – you will get lots more visitors to your website.

Does better SEO automatically guarantee more sales?

Yes and no. If your website is already making sales and you improve its SEO so that you attract more visitors  then then it is likely that you will also increase sales because you have increased visitors. Note, however, that a big part of SEO is attracting the right kind of visitors. Do it wrong and bring more people but not the buying type or by describing you, your products and services incorrectly through your SEO keywords – it will not. People will simply leave disappointed that they did not find what they expected. Also if your website looks poor visually, lacks functionality and is unable to create that know, like trust factor which is so important it is unlikely to have a huge impact on sales until you put the other things right too.

Paul Herschell Simple Art Marketing

I cannot wait to guide you over these next 3 weeks …

Building a successful high converting website for your art, craft or photography business involves many steps. Building good SEO into your website is so essential to bringing customers into your website 24/7 365 days of the year. Once set up it runs itself unlike social media which constantly demands your time to feed it.

SEO can be a little challenging which is why so many of your competitors are not doing it well at all. You are at a natural advantage in this sector but if you are prepared to put the work I will show you how to increase visitors and therefore sales.

I look forward to meeting you personally within my SEO for artist websites online course.
